Decorah receives over three inches of rain in a 12-hour period

3.15 inches of rain fell in Decorah from 6:00 p.m. Thursday to 6:00 a.m. Friday, causing widespread flooding.  The National Weather Service says the heavy rains caused some flooding Friday morning in Decorah, Waukon, New Hampton, Lansing, Postville, Nashua, Fredericksburg, New Albin, Lawler, and "especially Spillville."

In Decorah, portions of the Trout run Trail were blocked off Friday morning due to the flooding.

The river level in Decorah was beginning to plateau around mid-morning after reaching 8 feet (Click on photos for larger images)
The floodwater picked up debris, including tree branches and even entire trees
Water was bank to bank under the College Drive Bridge
