Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office asking Ossian area residents to be "extra vigilant"

The following is a message from the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office:

"Over the past couple of days the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office and Calmar Police Department have taken multiple reports of vehicle and garage burglaries in the Ossian area. These burglaries have been occurring during the overnight hours. An unidentified subject, who we believe is male, has been seen by residents fleeing the scene of some of these burglaries. The Sheriff's Office and Calmar Police are aggressively investigating these burglaries and will be increasing our patrols in the Ossian area.

Please make sure you lock your homes, garages, and outbuildings, and lock and remove keys from all vehicles. We are asking you to be extra vigilant. If you see any suspicious activity or people in the area, please call the sheriff's office or 911 immediately."
