Report: Decorah is one of Iowa's safest cities

The website www.safewise.com has just released its list of the top 20 safest cities in Iowa--and Decorah is on the list.

In fact, Decorah ranks 10th safest in Iowa on the website's 2018 rankings.  Safewise used FBI crime statistics to compute which Iowa communities had the lowest crime rate.

Its report on Decorah says Decorah had 1.4 violent crimes per 1,000 residents in 2017, with 9.66 property crimes per 1,000 residents.

Sioux Center topped the list of safest cities in Iowa, with only one NE Iowa city--Cedar Falls--making the top 20 list (at 13th).
