Posted: Wed, Apr 25, 2018 2:02 PM

Decorah firefighters were called out to 122 East Water Street in downtown Decorah shortly after 1:15 Wednesday afternoon. The building, located next to West Music, houses a new business, "Inspire + d."

When firefighters arrived, the upstairs apartment was fully engulfed in flames.  Firefighters attacked the fire from the rear of the building and quickly brought it under control.  The fire had also extended into the attic area of the adjacent West Music building.  That fire was contained to the attic.

No one was injured in the fire. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Decorah Fire is interested in seeing any pictures or videos taken of the fire.  Please e-mail them to dfd@decorahia.org.

The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by Calmar Fire Department, Decorah Police Department, Winneshiek County Sheriff's Dept, Iowa State Patrol, Decorah Streets Department, Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance, Black Hills Energy and Alliant Energy.
