MiEnergy has released new details about that solar energy panel farm to be built near Decorah this year.
MiEnergy president/CEO Brian Krambeer tells decorahnews.com the 1.5 Megawatt plant will be built west of Decorah. MiEnergy is currently talking with four different landowners and evaluating sites. The project will cover about 11 acres and will include a pollinator garden.
Krambeer says MiEnergy staffers have met with Winneshiek County representatives on the project to review the permitting process. The project is expected to start late this summer to early fall with completion by the end of year or first quarter of 2019--permitting and weather dependent.
With the completion of the Decorah project, Dairyland Power Cooperative partners will be operating 18 solar energy facilities in the Midwest.
