Ask Mr. (Electric) Answer Man: "What would be the status of the City of Decorah's franchise agreement with Alliant Energy if the 'Vote Yes' side wins in the May 1st referendum?"

(Kristi e-mails: "Mr. Answer Person, If memory serves me correct, the city's franchise agreement with Alliant Energy ends in May. If the May 1st vote turns out with majority voting 'yes' and the city council decides to go ahead with the application process to the IUB, will there be a temporary franchise agreement signed with Alliant Energy? What if Alliant Energy is unwilling to sign a temporary agreement with the city?"):

Mr. (Electric) Answer Person says: "Your memory is accurate--and your question is a good one.  Alliant Energy officials have already promised to continue to work with City of Decorah officials after the May 1st referendum--no matter what the outcome.  So there's no reason to fear your lights will go out after May 1st!"
