The North Winn Road repaving project could begin ahead of schedule

It is possible that the repaving of the south half of North Winn Road could take place sooner than expected this summer.

Winneshiek County Engineer Lee Bjerke says nothing is set in stone yet, but representatives from Croell, Inc. of New Hampton, the low bidder on the project, have told his office they might be ready to send crews to the project in mid-May, with paving starting in June.

Croell's bid of $2,214,814.96 was the lowest of the four bids opened at DOT headquarters in Ames. The project calls for repaving North Winn Road from US Highway 52 on the south to 337th Street on the north.

The North Winn Road project has a three-year timeline, with two culvert replacements being done last year, the repaving of the southern part of North Winn Road in this summer and the repaving of the north part of the road next year.
