The Decorah City Council has approved payment to a contractor who installed backfill and retention fabric along the washed-out portion of the Dug Road Trail. That work is done, but another 12 inches to 18 inches of fill still needs to be put on top of the base. When that part of the project is finished, the trail ought to be ready for regular use.
One final touch that is still being worked on is laying asphalt on top of the trail. That work will be done some time this year—but city officials first have to decide how much time to let elapse to allow the base to settle a little and become firmer.
