The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Winneshiek County for late Tuesday night and during the day on Wednesday.
The fast-moving late winter storm will Impact Northeast Iowa late Tuesday night, with the full force of the storm hitting Wednesday morning, when Winneshiek County could be hit with a wintry mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Amounts from 5 to 8 inches of snow are expected, with 1 to 2 inch per hour snowfall rates possible.
Wednesday morning's wintry mix could also include light icing. The wintry mix will change over to all snow for the afternoon.
Roads will become snow and ice covered Wednesday, with the morning commute possibly impacted and the evening commute most likely impacted.
