In 2010 a City of Decorah sustainability plan was written after a lot of consultation with community groups. The plan outlines the goals for city government departments becoming more environmentally sustainable.
But when the plan was presented to the Decorah City Council at that time, it was "accepted" instead of "adopted."
Now this year's city council is taking up the issue of adopting the sustainability plan. A motion Monday night to table the work, proposed by council member Randy Schissel, received only his vote in favor. Instead, city council members approved a motion to revise the 2010 sustainability plan in consultation with the Planning & Zoning Commission and other city committees.
