Two more Winneshiek County bridges have been closed immediately

"Hutchinson Bridge" on Scenic River Road

State bridge inspectors are touring Winneshiek County over the next few days--and their presence is already being felt.

Bridge #354 (known as the Hutchinson Bridge) and Bridge #199 (on 241st Street) have been closed to traffic.

Hutchinson Bridge is located on Scenic River Road, just off the Bluffton Road.  While the bridge is closed to traffic due to advanced deterioration, the road is open to the bridge and nearby campground.  County officials say they will be looking at the bridge to see what temporary repairs can be made to open it to traffic weighing under three tons.

Bridge #199 located on the part of 241st Avenue which is classified as a "Class B Road," meaning it receives reduced maintenance.  Inspectors closed the road due to an abutment failure. The bridge will be closed indefinitely.
