The Decorah Downtown Betterment Association's annual meeting featured guest speaker Decorah Community School District Superintendent Mike Haluska. Haluska provided an overview of the recent proposal given to the Decorah City Council for site development of the new elementary school.
In addition, the DDBA board of directors presented several awards to new or expanded businesses in appreciation of leadership and commitment to the community within the C-3 (downtown and West Side) district.
Awards were presented to Broker Leather, Cardboard Robot, The Getup, The Courtyard & Cellar, Group Benefit Partners, Thrivent Financial, Pulpit Rock Brewing Co., Access Systems, The Sugar Bowl Ice Cream Co., Gracie's Boutique, Rootz, Edward Jones, Wildcrafted Acupuncture & Herbs, Knox Financial, Curves, Backwater Spirits & More, and LuLu & BB's Pet Market.
DDBA's mission is to provide programs, economic development, and a favorable business climate to help maintain the vitality of our downtown and West Side business area. Some projects include flower baskets, Lawn Chair Night, downtown benches, informational kiosks, murals, and designated customer parking.
