Four NE Iowa towns get grants from Alliant Energy and Trees Forever

Four Northeast Iowa communities are getting grants from Alliant Energy and Trees Forever to help plant a diverse mix of trees.  In all more than $150,000 in grant money was awarded to 35 communities to help fund 38 tree-planting projects this spring.

Calmar is receiving $1,580 to plant trees at Northeast Iowa Community College; Howard County is receiving $3,500 to plant trees along streets in Cresco; New Albin is receiving $1,500 to plant trees along its streets; and Waukon is receiving $1,500 to help plant trees along streets and the playground area in the Waukon City Park.

Additional projects will be funded after another round of grant applicants submit fall proposals, which are due June 1st.
