The Decorah Police Department reports a hit and run accident occurred at the College Drive and Locust Road intersection at approximately 9:40 a.m. Thursday.

The report states a semi pulling an over size load hauling a John Deere tractor on a flatbed trailer was headed north on College Drive and was stopped between the two lanes, with lights flashing, waiting to make a wide right turn onto Locust Road. Meanwhile, 66-year-old Patricia Martinson of Decorah stopped at the stop sign in the right hand lane of the intersection intending to turn right onto Locust Road. The unknown semi driver struck Martinson's  2009 Honda Fit while turning, and did not stop. It is believed by a witness that the semi driver was unaware that he/she struck the vehicle.

Officers searched for the semi in the area and on Locust Road, but could not locate it. Martinson's vehicle had an estimated $3,000 of damage to the driver's side rear bumper and tailgate area.

If you have any information in regards to the semi or the driver, please contact the Decorah Police Department.
