Laura Ingalls Wilder Park and Museum in Burr Oak nominated for prestigious award

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Burr Oak has been nominated for the Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area People's Choice "Site of the Year" award.

Other eastern Iowa nominations include the National Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque, the Brucemore Mansion in Cedar Rapids, the Wapsipinicon Mill Museum in Independence, and the Fossil & Prairie Park Preserve & Center in Rockford.

The award is voted on by the public, and is presented to only one deserving SSNHA Partner Site.

Voting is open to the public until March 16th. The top three finalists will be invited as guests to the Partner Site Annual Training on April 9th at the Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids, where the winner will be announced and receive the traveling award.
