Public hearing set for Decorah Schools 2018-2019 budget

The Decorah Community School Board has set 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 9th, for a public hearing regarding the school district's proposed 2018-19 budget. The proposed budget for all funds is $30,620,495.

The tax rate will drop again, from $14.16 to $13.83 per $1,000 taxable valuation. Superintendent Michael Haluska says, "This is primarily due to a decrease in the need for a budget guarantee, and possessing a very adequate balance in the Management Levy."

The taxable valuation increased from $600,054,702 to $639,785,109 -- an increase of $39,730,407.
