Skyline Materials purchases Wiltgen quarries

Posted: Sun, Mar 11, 2018 1:16 PM

Skyline Materials, Ltd. of Decorah has completed the acquisition of the quarrying operations assets of Wiltgen Construction, Inc. and Wiltgen Family Partnership, LLC.

Wiltgen Construction has been in the excavation business in Northeast Iowa since 1945 and in the quarrying business since 1987.  Skyline Materials will operate the quarries as part of its existing operations.

This acquisition does not include the Wiltgen family's non-quarrying assets, such as the operations of Wiltgen Manufacturing Co., nor any real estate located within the City of Calmar.

Employees and customers of Wiltgen Construction, Inc. should see little to no change after the transition is completed, according to Wiltgen Construction President Chad Wiltgen.  "We entrust our quarrying business assets to Skyline Materials, knowing that they are deeply committed to serving customers and stewardship of the land, just as we have been for the past 70 years," said Wiltgen, adding, "We owe a debt of gratitude to so many employees, customers and property owners who have been an important part of our many years of success."

Skyline Materials President Greg Bruening, added, "We are looking forward to working with the customers of Wiltgen Construction, Inc., and serving the communities Wiltgens worked with."

Orders through the Wiltgen quarrying operations may now be placed by calling Skyline Materials at (563) 382-2933.  Anyone with questions may contact Keith Bruening at (563) 382-2933.
