The east side of the library will be painted next week

The Decorah Public Library staff have announced that the east side of the main floor of the library will be painted the week of March 12th-17th. The library will observe regularly scheduled open hours, but access to public computers, DVDs, and the young adult and children's areas of the building will be limited.

Library Director Kristin Torresdal said, "The safety of patrons, staff, and the paint crew is our top priority; thanks in advance for your patience while work is underway. We hope you'll enjoy our fresh look. Please stay tuned for additional building updates in the coming weeks."

Once the painting is completed, the library will hang new solar shades on the windows, new book display shelves on the walls, new matching atomic clocks, and some brightly colored banners featuring library programs on the freshly-painted walls.

Torresdal also mentioned, "As our budget allows, we are planning to replace the mauve chairs on the main floor and add some additional seating to the Mezzanine Gallery (2nd floor) in the near future."

Call the library at 382-3717 for more information.
