Alliant Energy has taken a necessary step in order to be able to accept contributions and to pay for advertising its position in the upcoming May 1st referendum on whether Decorah should form a municipal electric utility.
According to records on file with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board, the Cedar Rapids office of Alliant Energy has created "Committee for Decorah's Energy Future."
The political action committee lists Dustin Mohs at Alliant Energy in Decorah as the Treasurer and Matthew Cole of Decorah at Alliant Energy in Decorah as the Committee Chairperson.
The committee will now be subject to the filing deadlines for campaign spending reports, including a report on the amount of money raised.
