In October 2017, Penny Bockman was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. She is a wife and mother of four, two of whom still live at home.
Due to regular medical treatments in La Crosse, Penny is unable to work. Friends and family members have organized a benefit on Saturday at Nob Hill to help defray some of the expenses associated with her treatment, travel and the family's decreased income.
When Penny was first diagnosed, Dominique Bockman asked her what the best time she and her husband Mark had ever had. Penny recalled a Tom Petty Tribute band, "Free Fallin," that played at Pyramid Plaza when the couple ran the business.
The committee organizing this event wanted to re-create this event for Penny. They located band members, who recalled meeting Mark and Penny following a Tom Petty concert in the Twin Cities. The Bockmans began talking with the band, later scheduling them to play at Pyramid Plaza in Decorah.

Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. "Free Fallin" will perform from 8:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. They can be purchased at KVIK, KNEI, T-Bock's, Modish, Shear Wonders, Your Place, Happy Joe's, KDEC, or from any committee member: Dana Bockman, Dominique Bockman, Brook Bockman, Beth Baumann, Nicole Bjork, Kayla Zoulek, and Sam Zoulek.
