Winneshiek County supervisors have one week to review bids on repairs to the roof of the Courthouse. They might need that time.
Bids on the project were opened Monday morning, with four firms submitting bids. The bids included a base proposal, with three possible additions. JLH Enterprises was the low bidder on the base bid, submitting a bid of $136,745. But two other companies--Brenton Buildings and Matt Construction--were more competitive when the additional work was included. In fact, if all three alternate contracts are included, Brenton Buildings becomes the low bidder with a total of $207,740 for work that included attic insulation, new lighting and lightning protection.
Supervisors will vote next Monday on which alternate bids to include in the project and which of the three bids to accept. Work on the roof will be done late this spring.
