DHS Speech Team Brings Home the Iowa High School Speech Association banner for TV News

The Decorah High School Speech Team brought home the Iowa High School Speech Association banner for TV News on Saturday, February 17th.

The critic's choice, Controversy, was announced at the Iowa All-State Festival in Ames, Iowa. Controversy follows the story of a young boy, Johnny Gosch, who was kidnapped from West Des Moines in the early 80's. There will be a public viewing of the film followed by a brief reception on Wednesday, February 21st at 5:30 p.m. at the DHS auditorium.

Members of the broadcast include Kiersten Benson, Owen Burgdorf-Hibbs, Chance Elton, Emma Fretheim, Mazzi Hanson, Thomas Hendrickson, Rachel Hines, Amanda Kuehner, Katie Nimrod, Abby Pedlar, Greta Ransom, Emma Rooney, Ian Smith, Kari Tangen, and Dan Willie. Controversy was coached by Gabe Twedt, Molly Holkesvik, and Max Sparrow. Not pictured: Amanda Kuehner, Thomas Hendrickson, and Kiersten Benson.
