Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation's Family Service Office is reminding the public that it is still taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) through Monday, April 30th
This year the household income eligibility has been raised to 175 percent of the federal poverty level. This program is funded through the Iowa Department of Human Rights, and has been established to help qualifying low-income Iowa homeowners and renters pay a portion of their primary heating costs. All low-income Northeast Iowans are encouraged to apply, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. Households burning wood or where heating is included as part of the rent may also be eligible for assistance.
For more information, contact the Family Service Office in Decorah from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays at (563) 387-4958. If your household applied for LIHEAP in the 2016-2017 LIHEAP program year, your application also can be done online at http://www.neicac.org/energy.html
