Members of the Decorah School Board met for an hour and a half Monday at the district's Central Administration Office to discuss the potential purchase of city-owned land for a new elementary school.
No decisions were made at Monday's meeting--except to request time on the Feburary 19th city council agenda.
The discussion comes as a new Decorah City Council has been empaneled. Discussions by the school board with the previous city council ran into opposition from city officials to the idea that the city should sell its softball field property to the school district, so a new elementary school could be built there.
The school board spent all its time Monday discussing the new elementary school issue and did not have time to discuss another property issue--the possible purchase of land for a new bus barn. The school district currently rents property for the bus facilities.
