The Houston Symphony has won a Grammy award for "Best Opera Recording" for its adaptation of "Wozzeck" by Alban Berg.
Decorah native Teresa Procter was a part of this Grammy award-winning recording. During her graduate studies at Rice University, Procter was selected to be one of the eight ensemble members who performed with the Houston Symphony for this semi-staged production that featured soloists Anne Schwanewilms and Roman Trekel.
Procter is a graduate of Decorah High School and Luther College. She holds a Masters in Music in Voice Performance from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. She is an alumna of the Da Camera of Houston Young Artist program, the Dr. Richard and Barbara Schilling Singer/Songwriter Fellow with Purple Songs Can Fly at Texas Children's Hospital, and former member of Houston Grand Opera's outreach program Opera to Go!. She is currently the Texas Program Coordinator for the national organization Music for Autism, Inc.
