Posted: Sun, Feb 4, 2018 3:19 PM

The Iowa school district with the lowest transportation costs per student is West Burlington, which pays $9.56 per students, according to an article in the Des Moines Register.  The Iowa school district with the highest transportation costs per student, according to the Register, is North Winneshiek, which spends $969.60 per student on transportation.

An article in the newspaper says Republicans in the Iowa House of Representatives have unveiled a plan to devote $10 million statewide to helping school districts with high transportation costs.

North Winneshiek School Superintendent told Register reporter Brianne Pfannensteil, "This has been going on for years, and we've tried to explain our situation and what we're dealing with.  It's just too late for us."
