A second, smaller, landslide occurred on the Dug Road Trail, probably around Christmas Day.
That's the word from city and county officials who are working to get the base of the trail reconstructed so the trail can reopen. The landslide occurred below the trail, which means the base of the new trail is having to be repaired further.
City/County Trails Committee board member Ray Torresdahl says the timing of the landslide was somewhat fortunate: "Better that it happened now than after new blacktop is installed," he said.
The second landslide will affect efforts to replant the area, however, with the landslide affecting what one city official said was a "substantial area" where plants had been growing.
