first on decorahnews.com: Decorah School District slips somewhat in the latest niche.com rankings

The latest Iowa school district rankings are out from niche.com--and they show Decorah schools dropping just a little for 2018.

Overall, the Decorah Community School District was ranked 7th out of 294 school districts ranked in Iowa.  It is ranked 8th overall in "Best Places to Teach in Iowa" and 9th overall in "Safest School Districts in Iowa."  However, the district was ranked 3rd in 2015, 4th in 2016 and 3rd again last year.

Decorah Middle School held on to last year's 6th ranking in Iowa by niche.com among all middle schools in the state.  Decorah High School is ranked 10th overall in Iowa--down two spots from 8th last year.  John Cline School was ranked 38th overall among elementary schools in Iowa.

Decorah's academics and sports drew strongly favorable comments from those surveyed, as did the teachers and extracurricular programs.  Decorah's lack of diversity was the biggest complaint among those surveyed.
