Decorah High School has named Luke Stock as the recipient of the Norman C. Bradish Scholarship for the 2017-18 school year.
Norman Bradish created a scholarship to be awarded to a male graduate of Decorah High School who possesses high academic ability and curiosity, is liked by peers and adults, and displays high standards of character. The recipient must agree to attend a non-religious college outside the state of Iowa. In addition, the student must remain unmarried until finishing his studies.
Luke Stock plans to attend Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where he will major in history. Most likely, he will pursue a graduate degree in that area of study.
Stock has been active at Decorah High School and in the community. He has lettered in concert choir, orchestra, and cross country. He participates in soccer, mock trial, Envirothon, individual speech, large group speech, Community Club, National Honor Society, and Decorah Lutheran Church Youth Group. He has earned several awards and distinctions for his efforts in these activities.
In 2017 Luke Stock was named an AP Scholar with Honor, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all Advanced Placement Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Stock scored a 4 or higher on four AP Exams. Finally, he has spent many hours volunteering at school, church, and community. Tutoring in school, teaching Vacation Bible School, and assisting with Boys and Girls Club at the Rosebud Native American Reservation are among his favorite volunteer activities.
Luke Stock is the son Lee and Karen Stock of Decorah.
