When you're a police officer, you never know what the day will bring.
A case in point--officers of the Decorah Police Department, who were called out to the Upper Iowa River Monday afternoon to help free a trapped beaver.
The beaver had been pinned by ice chucks on the Upper Iowa River. Officers worked to get the animal's leg free and separated him from the ice chunk. Police moved the beaver away from the water because he was exhausted.
