Heartland Express CEO tells Decorah audience it's important to have a good team

1992 Luther College graduate Mike Gerdin was the featured speaker at Monday's Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Luther.

Gerdin is the CEO of the trucking company Heartland Express.  He told the Chamber members his four years at Luther taught him about living with a lot of people at the same time.  That experience, he said, taught him you're always part of something bigger than yourself.

"I focus on my team," Gerdin said of running Heartland Express, explaining, "I can't do it all by myself."  Gerdin says he spends a good deal of his time at work recruiting and training new truck drivers.
