Decorah Middle School students have a good chance of advancing in the MathCounts competition

The Decorah Middle School Mathcounts team has participated in the local round of this year's competition, and many team members did well enough to advance to the next round.

Of 160 Decorah Middle School studentswho took part in last Thursday's competition at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, seven Decorah Middle School individuals placed in the top 25 and three DMS teams placed in the top 10. 

The highest finisher was Hogan Smith, who placed 6th individually.  Other mathletes participating include Ella Grouws, Leslie Campbell, Kaeley Downing, Hope Stahl, Rebecca Anderson, Kolten Gossman, Lange Betts, Anya Lovstuen, Grady Brauer, Anders Lovstuen, Nolan Jacobsen, Simon Mumford, Adrian Huang, Grace Gerleman, Allison Pavlovec, Ruby Sullivan, Andrew Rhodes, Shlok Patel, Jacob Pipho, Wyatt Hackman, Hogan Smith, and Bennett Schutte.
