City officials are still worried about frozen water lines

decorahnews.com reported earlier this month (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2018/01/18201.html) about how when the weather turns bitter, serious problems such as frozen water mains and bursting pipes can occur.

Now City Water Superintendent Todd Ihde has given an update on the situation, reporting that two of Decorah's six water wells now have water temperatures in the 40s.  Ihde says since water in the other four wells is in the mid 50s and water from all six wells gets mixed together, there is no problem with the city's water supply.

However, he says he's still getting "quite a few calls" from homeowners worried about frozen water mains.  Ihde says homeowners should keep an eye on their water pipes and should run a faucet--if necessary--to prevent the pipes from freezing.
