One step closer to a new Decorah elementary school plan?

Although there was no discussion, the Decorah Community School Board took action on Monday night that might signal a direction for potential new elementary school facilities.

They set 11:30 a.m., January 29th, as the time for a closed session to "finalize an offer to the City."

Earlier discussions last year with the City of Decorah regarding the potential for property purchase did not progress into any resolution, amidst discussion of location concerns and property agreements with the City, and fair market cost for city properties. The School Board and the City of Decorah have both kept a tight lid on any small group discussions that might have occurred in advance of this development.

Now, with the pending North Winneshiek consolidation (vote on February 6) and a new City Council, the slate appears more open for discussion.
