On Wednesday shortly after 3:00 p.m., three vehicles were involved in a collision on Mechanic Street. 83-year-old Betty Livingood of Ridgeway was traveling south on Mechanic Street and was slowing for vehicle ahead of her that was stopped for traffic at the intersection of Jefferson Street. Behind Livingood, followed 68-year-old William Elsbernd and 17-year-old Rachel Hudson, both of Decorah. Elsbernd was slowing to stop, but Hudson reports that her foot slipped off of the brake and onto the accelerator resulting in Hudson running into the back of Elsbernd, and Elsbernd running into the back of Livingood. All 3 vehicles were damaged and Hudson was cited for failure to maintain control.
