On Friday morning, 19-year-old Kaci Ames of Keokuk was driving west bound on 5th Avenue at the intersection of Pulpit Rock Road. When Ames attempted to make a left hand turn onto Pulpit Roack Road, she slid on a patch of ice on the side of the roadway and slid into the ditch striking a Speed Zone sign. Ames' 2014 Ford Escape sustained $1,700 worth of damage, and the sign was damaged an estimated $100.
On Saturday afternoon, 35-year-old Benjamin Krebs of Richfield, Wisconsin was traveling west bound on Highway 9 near the intersection of County Road W42/Millenium Road. Krebs slowed to make a left turn onto W42 and when he was nearly stopped to wait for oncoming traffic, he was struck by 19-year-old Nolan Walby of Postville. Walby was also traveling west bound and did not see Krebs in time to stop in a clear assured distance. Walby attempted to veer to the rights, but struck the rear corner of Krebs'2014 Chevrolet truck, causing $1,500 in damage. Walby's 2003 Pontiac Bonneville sustained $4,500 in damage. Walby was cited for Failure to Stop Assured Clear Distance.
