A consultant's report on the possibility of creating a municipal electric utility in Decorah will be ready in time for a presentation to the Decorah City Council at the council's next meeting on January 16th.

The final report will be given to city council members a few days before the 16th, to give them time to read the full report.  A presentation will be made at the city council meeting, then the report will be released to the public.

The feasibility report has been commissioned by Decorah Power, a citizens group which has formed in support of the idea.  Decorah Power will not describe the findings of the feasibility study, although several people associated with the group called it "positive."

If the issue gets put to a public referendum, two possible dates for such an election would be Tuesday, May 2nd and Tuesday, August 1st, according to the Iowa Secretary of State's office.
