Appliance recycling event has been cancelled

The annual appliance recycling event held for the past five years in downtown Decorah will not be held in 2018.

Decorah City Council member Randy Schissel says there have been some problems with the recycling company which worked with the City of Decorah on the project.

However, residents can still take their used appliances to the Winneshiek County Landfill.  Schissel says the Winneshiek County Recycling Center is working on getting certified as an appliance recycler in the future.
