Decorah Police responded to a traffic accident on Highway 9 around 11:00 Thursday morning.

Police say 41-year-old Jessica Phillips of Decorah lost traction on the road due to icy conditions.  Her SUV crossed the center line and struck an SUV driven by 56-year-old Perry Halse of Decorah.  The accident pushed Halse's SUV into the guard rail over the Division Street bridge.

Both vehicles were totaled in the accident and the guard rail suffered $1,000 in damages.  Both Phillips and Halse were taken to Winneshiek Medical Center with what were described as "minor injuries."

Decorah firefighters were called to the scene to help extract Halse from his vehicle
