Winneshiek County officials thought the remodeling of the Courthouse Annex into a meeting space for county committees would take until the end of March. But county supervisors learned Wednesday the remodeling "is moving along pretty fast," according to supervisor Dean Thompson, who's supervising the project.
The remodeled space will be used by the County Board, the County Planning & Zoning Commission and other county committees as a place to meet, including at night. That's important because the Courthouse itself can no longer be used for nighttime meetings because of security concerns.
The interior of the Annex will allow tables and chairs to be moved around, according to the size of the group which is meeting. There will also be folding chairs for any members of the public who want to attend the county meetings.
