Ken Burns' documentary series on National Parks to be shown in January at Luther

Filmmaker Ken Burns' six-part documentary "The National Parks: America's Best Idea" will be shown in January at Luther College.

 Green Iowa AmeriCorps, in a partnership with the Winneshiek Energy District and The Center for Sustainable Communities at Luther College, is sponsoring the showings.  The series will start on Wednesday, January 10th at 6:30 p.m. with a showing of "The Scripture of Nature."  On Sunday, January 14th at 2:00 p.m., there will be a showing of "The Last Refuge."  On Wednesday, January 17th at 6:30 p.m., there will be a showing of "The Empire of Grandeur." On Sunday, January 21st at 2:00 p.m., there will be a showing of "Going Home."  On Wednesday, January 24th at 6:30 p.m., there will be a showing of "Great Nature."  The series will conclude with a showing on Sunday, January 28th at 2:00 p.m. of "The Morning of Creation."  All screenings will be free and open to the public and will be held in room 362 of Luther College's Valders Hall of Science.

Childcare will be provided during the movie, so families are encouraged to come. The childcare will also consist of a National Park themed activity.
