Results of Winneshiek County's Affordable Housing Assessment are available

The final report of Winneshiek County's Affordable Housing Assessment now can be viewed on the Winneshiek County Development website at www.winneshiekdevelopment.org.

Winneshiek County Development Inc. commissioned a housing needs assessment in December of 2016 in partnership with Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission.  The study was done to understand affordable housing issues and opportunities within Winneshiek County, specifically within Calmar, Castalia, Decorah, Fort Atkinson, Jackson Junction, Ossian, Ridgeway and Spillville.

The assessment analyzes current housing conditions, examines household characteristics, forecasts future housing gaps and discusses Winneshiek County's greatest housing needs.  The study will be used by county and community leaders to develop comprehensive housing policies and incentives that meet the needs of current and future residents.
