Valuation of Winneshiek County property has gone up by $50 Million

Taxable property valuations in Winneshiek County—the figures used by all local governments in setting their tax levies—are increasing by four percent for the 2018/2019 fiscal year.

County Auditor Ben Steines says the total taxable valuation for both rural and urban properties in the county has been set at $1,301,594,304 for 2018-2019.  Last year's countywide total was $1,250,972,583.  Rural properties account for just under $840 million of the 2018-2019 figure, with urban properties at just under $462 million.

The City of Decorah will be working on a taxable valuation of just under $350 million, while the Decorah School District will have taxable valuations totaling $639,547,415.  Last year's taxable valuation total for the City of Decorah was $322,905,342, while the school district's total was $599,815,327.
