Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau "restores and realigns" for 2018

Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau board member Mike Klimesh reports the WCCVB is restoring its fiscal integrity and realigning its purpose and mission.

In October, the WCCVB moved out of the Visitor's Center building on Water Street and into the Gossling Woodworking building on Short Street (formerly Aspen Alley). Klimesh explains the relocation is saving the WCCVB $500/month on rent and utilities, plus an additional $1,000 - $2,100/year on staffing a front desk employee. "The move has already restored the WCCVB's fiscal integrity," says Klimesh.

According to Klimesh, analytics show that 80 percent of visitors do online research before visiting the area.  As a result, the WCCVB plans to realign its vision and focus on increased social media marketing rather than staffing and managing a walk-in office. 2018 marketing will emphasize the area's outdoor activities, specifically mountain biking and canoeing, in addition to camping, hiking, biking, fishing, and hunting.
