Motor vehicle accident causes $7,000 in damages

The Decorah Police Department reports 34-year-old Kimberly Sanders of Decorah struck a legally parked 2006 Subaru Outback in the 800 block of River Street at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sanders left the scene before officers arrived and went to the hospital for precautionary treatment. The owner of the 2009 Hyundi that Sanders was driving reported the accident on scene to the officers. Sanders told officers at the hospital that she reached for an item when the collision occurred. The vehicle Sanders was driving sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages and the Subaru sustained an estimated $4,000 in damages. Sanders was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
