Iowa's judicial system is in the midst of a search for a new judge to serve Northeast Iowa, including Winneshiek County.

Judge Nathan Callahan is planning to retire on December 28th.  Associate Juvenile Judge Alan Albee is also expected to retire next March.  Applications are now being accepted to fill the post of "District Associate Judge."  Candidates will be interviewed January 12th in West Union.  A joint nominating committee will forward the the names of three finalists to the Chief Judge of the First Judicial District.  One of the three nominees then will be appointed District Associate Judge based on the votes of District Judges within the district.

The new judge will serve Winneshiek, Allamakee, Howard, Fayette, Clayton, Chickasaw and Buchanan counties.
