Starting next Monday, the Winneshiek County Historical Society will have new offices.

The organization will be located in the lower level of the historic Smith Building at 305 Montgomery Street.  The Historical Society office will be open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Smith Building, and also open by appointment.

Member volunteers help the public with research on county history, home and building histories, architecture identification, family history and genealogy.  County records, historic photographs, family histories, obituaries, reference books and other materials will be available.  Archives are located at the 1878 Old Jail on the courthouse grounds, where the Historical Society also has an office.
