Another honor for University of Iowa football player Josey Jewell from Decorah.
Jewell on Thursday was named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year. The conference also named him the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year.
Jewell is the first Hawkeye to win the award since 1991.
Decorah born and raised Jewell has made 125 tackles in Hawkeye games this season—a figure that leads the Big Ten and ranks third nationally.
