(Cynthia Peterson of Decorah has submitted a Letter to the Editor in response to decorahnews.com's story (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2017/11/17918.html) about what constitutes 'affordable' when 'affordable housing' is being discussed):
"The other issue is rent. Many people who have transportation move from Decorah to lower rent towns nearby, but for low wage workers this is often not an option. Gas costs money and a car that works without major repair money is hard to maintain. At some point Decorah will run out of entry level service workers because no one can afford to live here. In my opinion it also impacts diversity in the population and that makes us more like a high income suburb rather than a town that has a diverse economic population. I think we might lose vitality in the long run if this were to happen."
