If you have an idea for a new business or a way to grow your business that will contribute to the economic resilience of Winneshiek County, there is a new opportunity available to you.
Winneshiek Idea House is a local entrepreneur forum bringing entrepreneurs, "investors," and experts together to create a stronger local economy. WIH is similar in format to the popular TV show "Shark Tank" in which entrepreneurs share their business ideas with deep-pocketed investors who help bring their idea or existing business to the next level. In the case of Winneshiek Idea House, the investors are community members who may "invest" loans or gifts of money, use of space/facility, expertise, neighborliness, and more to support one or more of the local enterprises.
Winneshiek County Development Executive Director Stephanie Fromm says the idea for Winneshiek Idea House came from several community members working toegether to brainstorm ways to use local dollars to support local business. "There's a high level of interest in Winneshiek Idea House, especially from investors. People in our community think it's a great idea and are excited to be a part of it."
Applications are due by January 1st. The Winneshiek Idea House event will take place in March and will be open to the community. For more information and details about selection criteria, deadlines, and next steps, visit https://decorahnow.com/idea-house/
